MTM has published the results of their latest tuning session on the B8 S4. The results are stunning to say the least. They are claiming 431HP with just their Cantronic chip upgrade!
For € 2491, – you get:
317kW (431BHP)
maxium torque 515Nm
0-100 km / h in 4.6 s
0-200 km / h in 17.9 s
Let’s hope MTM and the rest of the tuners out there find this type of power in the US Spec B8 S4! Source Audiblog.nl

If that’s true, that just rendered the B5 S4 obsolete.
are you kidding?? there’s nothing about it that makes the B5 S4 obsolete…
I think what he means is that this is the first boosted (albeit SC not turbos) S4 since the B5. The reason many of us still have our B5 S4s is the need for boost! V8 power is great and all, but us B5′ers gotta have boooooooost!
The B5 will never die, it is a true tuners car and will always have a huge following. This car will be to Audi what the B5 was in 2000 and it will cause a huge increase in the attention Audi gets from the tuner scene. I am excited to see what the US tuners like APR, GIAC, EPL, etc… are going to do with the US version.
its definitely great news and an amazing car, but it can’t replace the biturbo and its potential
there’s no way the B8 will make the B5 obselete for two BIG reasons:
1. a typical stage III B5 can produce 431 WHEEL horsepower…or about 500 crank, and it’s abotu 200-300 lbs lighter than the B8.
2. according to a poll on Audizine.com, 80% of b5 owners are 21 and under, and thus are not likely able to afford a brand new $50,000 B8
The B5 is almost obsolete on its own. just do to attrition and age. yes most 21 year olds can’t afford the new B8, but they couldn’t when the B5 was new either. same can be said for tuning. the new motor is now received its first chip. that’s it. the B5 has almost a decade of tuning to get to its current level. we’ll see lots of room for growth in this 3.0. hell look at stg I vs stg I!!!
Sooo very excited about this. I am a B5 driver over 21 haha. I am looking to get into a new S4 but I can’t let mine go. 500hp is too sweet.
@M power this! – great point. Look at the number for stage 1 vs stage 1. There is a ton of potential with this car, and they are just scratching the surface. The B8 will be the new B5, but the B5 will never go away. What were they thinking with B6 and B7?
My 2.7t is 8 years old, stage 1 Dahlback.
It’s getting old. Obsolete? NEVER! It is thrill to drive ever time I get in it and push the pedal to the floor in ANY gear.
Do I want a new 2010 with the MTM chip? Absolutely, and I’m going to keep both of them! (You have to have an airport car that can get you there FAST.)
I’m sure the new one will be faster and better, but any Audi bi-Turbo or Supercharged, old or new is 1000 times better than 95% of the cars on the road, especially for the money. Audi has spoiled me with it’s AWD, 6 speed manual and lots of power. I can never go back to anything less.

The chip is great and all but the fact remains …It still has the same problems as chipping a new B5 S4 in 2001. Chip it and you $50K new Audi’s factory warranty goes bye, bye.
MTM works quite closely with audi… the chip might not necessarily void the warranty.
in europe you were able to get a 1.8T B5 A4 with a dealer installed bigger turbo kit, and here in the states you can get a dealer installed Dinan chip in your BMW 335i… so we shouldnt jump to conclusions just yet.
The B8 should be able to put the B5 to shame: it’s had 10 years to improve on the B5 design!
Yes, you could get B5 chips at dealers when the B5s were new. Didn’t stop people having warranty issues with being chipped though. If you mod your car and a dealer suspects it contributed to a part failure, you’re likely to have warranty problems.
