Petit Le Mans 2009 is in the books. The race has been officially called and the checked flag has waived. This anti-clamatic finish comes after many hours of waiting under red flag conditions. Drivers have been out of their cars for many hours waiting for the rain to lighten enough for standing water and track flooding to cease. Peugeot takes 1st and 2nd place in the number 08 and 07 cars. The two Audi R15s finish a dissapointing 3rd and 4th place. Allan McNish was in the lead only minutes before the Red Flag, but spun due to water on the racetrack. The Audi team and fans are certainly disappointed as this spin made the difference in Audi taking home the top podium spot. More to come as official results are posted and Audi posts their press releases!
Official Results
1 #08 Sarrazin/Montagny Peugeot 908 HDI FAP
2 #07 Minassian/Lamy Peugeot 908 HDI FAP

4 #1 Marco Werner Audi R15 TDI

Le Mans, France – All hope is riding on the shoulders of the #1 R15 TDI which is currently in 3rd place behind the #8 and #9 Peugeots. Cappello is behind the wheel running great lap times and is positioned very well to take advantage of any mistakes by the Peugeot team. Both Audi R10 TDIs from team Kolles are in the top ten in 6th and 9th place. The #3 R15 TDI is holding up the back of the LMP1 pack after some lengthy delays due to mechanical issues. Stay tuned for the latest updates live from Le Mans!
