First Audi TT RS sold in U.S. marks return of heralded high-performance RS line
Editor's Note: We are very excited that one of our own members was the very first person in the United States to receive delivery of their TT RS. Read the press release from Audi below and see Don's post in our TT forum here: http://forums.quattroworld.com/tt2/msgs/11655.phtml Pictures coming soon!
The return of the heralded Audi RS line to the American performance car scene officially launched when Forth Worth Audi in Texas delivered the first 2012 Audi TT RS in the U.S. to veteran race car driver Don Istook.
Last year, Istook was one of more than 11,500 fans to sign the Audi TT RS Facebook petition drive, which helped convince Audi to introduce the 360-hp coupe in the U.S. But Istook’s connection to Audi and to the TT performance car line runs far deeper. The Fort Worth native was one of the first drivers to race an Audi Quattro in the U.S. in 1985 and he drove Audi S4 models in the Motorola Cup, which became the Grand-Am Cup. Dream weekend for Audi in customer sport with the R8 LMS
Three DTM drivers participate in charity run
World Ski Championship entrants visit Zandvoort
Audi’s customers had plenty of reasons to celebrate this weekend as victories were scored in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Sweden. After just 25 months the “young” GT3 sports car can look back on a set of remarkable interim statistics.
A dream weekend for the R8 LMS: Two years and one month after its debut on April 4, 2009 the Audi R8 LMS has achieved a special mark of success. On Saturday the customer sports car from Audi clinched its 75th victory. Team ABT Sportsline with Christopher Mies and Luca Ludwig popped the champagne bottles at the Sachsenring. Christer Jöns/Jens Klingmann complemented the team’s one-two result. On Sunday the Audi R8 LMS even managed a one-two-three-four result: Andreas Simonsen/Christopher Haase won in front of their Phoenix team-mates René Rast/Stefan Landmann and the Abt line-up of Luca Ludwig/Christopher Mies andChrister Jöns/Jens Klingmann.

During the CAR and DRIVER test of the 2011 Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 they where able to achieve a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds with a roll out
Recently during their testing of the TT RS the $60,000 coupe was able to achieve a 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds with a roll out. That puts the TT RS on par with some other very expensive German machinery. We are very excited that Audi has decided to provide it’s North American buyers with such an amazing vehicle.
The TT RS should start to appear on dealers lots this summer.

For a car that isn’t officially here yet, the Audi TT RS has already acquired quite a following. In fact, it’s about 11,500 strong, the number who signed the Facebook petition to bring the car to the U.S. To show its appreciation, Audi invited the RS’s friends to an exclusive preview luncheon Feb. 10 during media days at the Chicago Auto Show.
