Staying true to his philosophy of combining mechanical perfection and exterior beauty, Afzal Kahn’s formula of club-class quality and high-tech engineering puts the wide track Audi Q7 (available in ibis and pearl white) somewhere near the top of the premium SUV pile.
Safe and luxurious, with imposing looks and plenty of visual presence – the Q7 Kahnexterior package helps disguise the proportions.
The North American International Auto Show is arguably one of the most important shows of the year for Audi. This year was no exception and was highlighted by the announcement from Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG that the Audi Q3 will be arriving in North America within two years. In addition to the Q3, Audi announced the long awaited return of the allroad after a 7-year hiatus from North America.
Dickie Meaden from EVO recently had the chance to learn how to tackle the Italian Misano Circuit from no other than Allan McNish. It wasn’t just about learning to tackle The Misano Circuit in a street car. It’s about learning how to tackle The Misano Circuit in an Audi R18. Dickie was allowed to complete 5 laps in the R18 in the completely untouched Le Mans winning car. There’s all sorts of debris embedded in the car as Audi has a tradition of leaving the cars in the condition that they win the race in.
Timo Bernhard and Marcel Fässler achieve podium result
Fourth place for Allan McNish and Tom Kristensen
Team-internal duel makes for thrilling finish
Audi Sport Team Joest finished the round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) at Imola, Italy, in third and fourth place. Only three weeks after Audi’s victory at Le Mans Marcel Fässler and Timo Bernhard took third place in the #1 Audi R18 TDI at the six-hour race near Bologna. Their team-mates Allan McNish and Tom Kristensen in the diesel sports car designated as number “2” finished the fourth ILMC round on position four.
Le Mans winner Marcel Fässler, who had captured a position on the front row of the grid by taking second place in qualifying, defended his place at the beginning of the race. Allan McNish, who drove the #2 R18 TDI at the start, was running in fourth place at the beginning of the race. Both cars continually lost time due to many lapping events in heavy traffic in the field of 48 vehicles. After the first pit stops, 47 minutes into the race, the two Audi R18 TDI cars were on positions three and four.

Always be at least one step ahead of the opposition – this is Audi’s motto. This is exactly how the Four Rings brand presented the Audi R18 TDI – the first Le Mans sports car featuring headlights comprising entirely of light emitting diodes. As a result, the Audi drivers have a significant advantage at night during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Le Mans “dress rehearsal” at the 1000-kilometer race at Spa (Belgium)
Record field comprising 60 sports prototypes and GT cars
Audi Sport Team Joest competes with three cars
Now the action will begin in earnest. After thousands of test kilometers including the recent test day at Le Mans, the new Audi R18 TDI is ready for its first race. At the 1000-kilometer race at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) on May 7, Audi Sport Team Joest will perform its “dress rehearsal” for the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The racing debut of a new race car is always a very special event and Audi Sport has good experiences in this regard. Since 2000 every new sports prototype of the brand with the four rings has won its first race. In 2000, 2006 and 2009 Sebring in Florida (USA) was the venue of the respective debut victories of the R8, R10 TDI and R15 TDI models. The updated R15 TDI, internally designated as “R15 plus,” won its maiden race as well, at Le Castellet (France).

During development of the new LMP1 sports car the integration and future electrification of the powertrain and various possible concepts for energy recuperation have been taken into account.
