Audi to present the RS5 in Geneva

  • Coupé with 331 kW (450 PS) high-revving V8 engine
  • RS 5 also efficient – 10.8 liters per 100 km (21.78 US mpg)
  • Newly-developed center differential for quattro drivetrain

INGOLSTADT, Germany, Feb 22, 2010 – Please note, there is no information regarding U.S. availability of the RS 5 at this time.

Unbridled power lurking in a classically elegant coupé: the Audi RS 5 will debut at the Geneva Auto Show. The high-revving 4.2-liter V8 with its 331 kW (450 hp) unleashes powerful performance while achieving remarkable fuel economy. The seven-speed S tronic and an innovative center differential in the quattro drivetrain transmit power to all four wheels.

Developed by quattro GmbH, the RS models comprise the dynamic spearhead of Audi‘s model range. The RS 5 is the latest torchbearer in a tradition dating back over 15 years to the RS 2 Avant: superior handling in the mid-size class.

RS5 is confirmed to be powered by the 450HP FSI V8

In case you were hiding under a rock last week and missed our post about the RS5 brochure being leaked, we have some more information for you to drool over. The speculation was that the RS5 would be powered by a normally aspirated FSI V8 but the details were still a bit sketchy. This picture of the engine bay should put all remaining questions to rest. I know many were hoping for a forced induction engine but this is a well proven power plant with tons of power and fits in very competitively against the likes of the 414HP 2010 M3 coupe.

Audi RS5 brochure leaked!

“The next über-model from Audi’s Quattro GmbH division won’t officially debut in Geneva for another week, but images from its brochure have already made their way onto the web. The Audi RS5 coupe will no doubt take the performance of Audi’s B8 platform to levels beyond the much-loved and departed RS4. What we don’t know at this point is how high that level will go, and what the motive power will be.

It’s probably safe to assume it’ll fall somewhere between the 420 horsepower of the Audi RS4 and the 571 hp of the current Audi RS6. Since the V10 used the R8 and RS6 isn’t really in keeping with Audi’s current engine-downsizing philosophy (not to mention that the 10-cylinder probably wouldn’t fir into the smaller A5′s engine bay), perhaps we’ll a turbo or supercharged version of the 4.2-liter V8 in the current S5, or a maybe even a more severely amplified version of the 3.0-liter TFSI V6 from the S4″

MTM/Horchaus bringing C6 Audi RS6, B7 RS4 Avants and more to North America!

Thanks to IEDEI Blog” for the following info:

Well I’ve been gathering information about this for a few days, straight from Francois over at Horchaus (Official Canadian distributor of MTM (V.A.G. tuning company).

It seems that they have worked out a plan with Audi of Germany to be able to bring Audi RS6s (C6, current) as well as B7 RS4 Avants and R8s to North America directly from Germany! To any other Audi aficionados such as myself—this is HUGE news. For a very long time, we’ve been stranded by the products being provided to the US market when it comes to ’special’ Audis. We did receive the previous generation C5 RS6, but only in sedan form (NO Avant in North America). We also received the B7 RS4 sedan (NO Avant in North America). We are not going to receive the C6 RS6 at all——until NOW!
