Audi A3 e-tron concept

Audi is set to unveil an attractive technical study – the A3 e-tron concept – in Shanghai. The four-seat notchback sedan integrates the full breadth of the brand’s technological expertise – from the enhanced MMI operating system, to the high-end infotainment system, to the drivetrain. And with its two powerplants and lithium-ion batteries that store enough energy to propel the car on electric power alone for up to 54 km (34 miles), the plug-in hybrid also delivers high fuel efficiency.

Audi RS7 Concept Design Study

The Audi RS7 is a design study by Austrian designer Adriano Mudri which projects his vision of what future Audi products might look like. His RS7 rendering combines multiple design aspects taken from different Audi Group Models. The doors and horizontal lines are clearly inspired by Lamborghini, the rear looks to be taken from the Audi R8, and the LED headlights are another design cue taken from current Audio models.

Efficiency meets luxury – the 2012 Audi A8 Hybrid

Editor’s note: Audi is showing off the 2012 A8 Hybrid at the Geneva Auto Expo in Geneva, Switzerland. Here is a sneak peak at the A8 Hybrid which we are dubbing the perfect mating of efficiency and luxury.

The efficiency standard – the Audi A8 hybrid

Power like a big V6, fuel economy like a modest four-cylinder unit – Audi presents the A8 hybrid as a technology concept at the Geneva Motor Show. Its two propulsion units – a 2.0 TFSI and an electric motor – develop a total output of 180 kW (245 hp) of system power and 480 Nm (354.03 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the Audi A8 hybrid to accelerate in 7.6 seconds from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) and to achieve a top speed of 235 km/h (146.02 mph). Yet its average fuel consumption amounts to only 6.2 liters (37.94 US mpg) per 100 km – the CO2 equivalent is 144 grams per km (231.75 g/mile).

The Detroit showcar Audi e-tron shows another variant of an electric vehicle developed by Audi

DETROIT, Mi., Jan 11, 2010  -  Audi is showing an uncompromising purist compact sports car with all-electric drive at the first major auto show of 2010. The Detroit showcar Audi e-tron is the name of this 3.93 meter (154.72 in) long and 1.78 meter (70.08 in) wide but just 1.22 meter (48.03 in) tall two-seater; just a few months after the debut of the Audi e-tron at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, this is now the second electric concept vehicle from the brand with the four rings.

Coupled with the Detroit showcar Audi e-tron’s low gross weight of around only 1,350 kilograms (2976.24 lb), high-torque power units driving the rear wheels guarantee commensurate road performance. Two electric motors with a combined output of 150 kW (204 hp) and 2,650 Nm (1954.54 lb-ft) accelerate the coupe with ASF-design aluminum body from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 5.9 seconds. The Audi e-tron accomplishes the sprint from 60 to 120 km/h (37.28 – 74.56 mph) in a mere 5.1 seconds. Continue reading ‘Audi e-tron concept car is highlight of NAIAS’
