Audi unveils the new R18 e-tron quattro


  • Spectacular drive in public traffic of Le Mans
  • Fresh graphics and more cubic capacity for higher efficiency
  • Concept decision followed extensive testing

Audi began the 2014 WEC season with a spectacular appearance. The new Audi R18 e-tron quattro did not do its initial kilometers at Le Mans on the legendary race track in Western France but in public traffic. Audi factory driver Tom Kristensen, with nine victories under his belt the record holder of the Le Mans 24 Hours, drove the diesel hybrid sports car from the Saint-Julien du Mans cathedral in the city center to the famous race track.

Audi R18 e-tron quattro at Le Mans on March 25th, 2014


In a unique presentation, Audi will be unveiling the technology, the innovations and the livery of the new Audi R18 e-tron quattro at Le Mans on March 25. Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen will be driving the LMP1 sports car from the city center to the race track – in keeping with an all-but forgotten tradition of the legendary race dating back to the days when the drivers would travel to the venue in their race cars.  The drive from the Place des Jacobins to the ‘Circuit des 24 Heures’ will start at 13:30. From 12:30, an autograph session with Tom Kristensen and his WEC team-mates will be held at the Place des Jacobins.

Audi achieves pioneering feat with e-tron quattro four-wheel drive

Audi has set another trend in motorsport. After the brand revolutionized rally racing with quattro four-wheel drive in the nineteen- eighties and significantly shaped touring car racing with this system in the nineties, four-wheel drive has been making its way into LMP1 sports prototypes as well. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro now aims to extend ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ with a system featuring an all-new development.

Felix Baumgartner to drive Audi R8 at Nürburgring 24 Hours

Following his stratosphere jump in 2012, extreme athlete Felix Baumgartner is tackling his next big challenge on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. The Austrian will obtain a racing license and become a race driver with the Audi race experience team on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

Audi has unveiled the new generation of the DTM Championship winning car at the Geneva Motor Show. The 2014-specification Audi RS 5 DTM with its aerodynamics package having been redesigned in practically all areas looks clearly more aggressive and features visual details bearing an even closer resemblance to the sporty production models of the RS line than its predecessor.

Not only will they need to master the races in a flawless, fast, reliable and intelligent manner as before, but in a highly efficient one as well. Otherwise, penalties are a possibility.

Audi welcomes LMP1 efficiency regulations

The changes to the Technical Regulations of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) for the 2014 season can justifiably be called a revolution. For the first time, the output of a race car is no longer subject to targeted restrictions. Instead, limitations are imposed on energy consumption while new engineering freedoms are allowed. This way, technical creativity will be rewarded so that the most efficient race car may win at Le Mans on June 15.

Audi team prepares in Lanzarote


  • Squads from DTM and WEC trained together in the Canaries

Every year, Audi Sport intensively prepares for the coming motorsport season with its race drivers and team management. This year, the team trained in Lanzarote for the first time.

Sports, fun and games, plus the necessary serious side: Audi Sport’s teambuilding activity is far more than a fixture on the calendar of the race drivers, team directors and sporting management level. “We’ve been perfecting our joint team week for years,” explains Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. “A healthy mix of individual sports, team disciplines and theoretical units promotes an upbeat mood and the building of a cohesive team. Be it at Le Mans, in the WEC or in the DTM: A lot of the success would simply be impossible without a well-developed team spirit. Only a strong team stands its ground.”
