The latest Audi R8 LMS ultra was unveiled to the public at the Geneva Motor Show this week. The most recent evolution of the customer sport race car with improved aerodynamics will be fighting for GT3 honors worldwide this year. Its sister model was also showcased in Europe for the first time: The new generation of the Audi R8 GRAND-AM won the GT class of the Daytona 24 Hours in January and is available to Audi’s customer teams as well.

Audi Sport R8 LMS partner Hitotsuyama Racing recieved their 2013 R8 LMS ultra today. They have sold their current R8 LMS ultra in favor of a new 2013 spec. The team has used their R8s in many series across Asia including: Super Taikyu, GT Asia, ILMC and Macau GT cup. Their first race with the R8 was marked with a Pole-to-Win finish for the opening round of Super Taikyu (Endurance) series.

When the starting flag is lowered for the 40th runnning of the Nürburgring 24 Hours at 16:00 on May 19 suspense will reach a peak at Audi race experience. Pros and customers are set on battling for good results with two new Audi R8 LMS ultra cars at Germany’s toughest endurance race.

Audi was recently in Italy at a very rainy Monza Circuit testing The R18 ultra in preparation for it’s first International WEC race. The 6 Hours Of Spa−Francorchamps takes place on Saturday, May 5th and will be the debut race for the R18 ultra and the R18 e-tron quattro. Audi also brought along a new R8 LMS ultra to take part in the testing. The R8 LMS ultras have already taken part in a few races and have been very successful. It’s rare that we are able to the fearocious growl the R8s V10 on it’s own not surrounded by other racers.
