Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) and Audi of America today announced customers who purchase 2013 model year vehicles equipped with MMI Navigation Plus or MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Touch will receive a 4-year subscription to SiriusXM Traffic, giving drivers access to traffic speed and flow information along with accident information to assist in routing around congested areas.
Boston.com reports that Red Sox slugger David Ortiz was involved in a minor traffic accident in his R8. Ortiz somehow managed to deactivate the traction control system on his White R8 V10 Spyder sending it spiraling into the street after he pressed the accelerator pedal presumably a bit too hard. Nobody was hurt and Ortiz schedule to play tonight.

Audi today reported record-setting April sales with a 15% increase to 11,521 new vehicles sold, marking the 16th consecutive month of record sales in the U.S. April sales also marked the fourth-best month ever for the brand and set the all-time sales record for the month of April.

The decision has been made: AUDI AG Board of Management and Supervisory Board of AUDI AG approved plans to build a North American plant in Mexico. The exact location for the new plant, which will manufacture an SUV model starting in 2016, will be chosen by AUDI AG later this year.
AUDI AG is maintaining its growth course. Thanks to some 346,100 vehicles delivered – an increase of 10.8 percent – this past quarter was the best in company history. This strong start to the year was due in part to March figures: around 143,500 units delivered and a 14.1 percent rise in sales. Audi had never sold so many vehicles in a single month. Growth from January through March was fueled in particular by customers in the USA and China, where Audi achieved record sales, as well. The company likewise registered growth in Eastern Europe and in its domestic German market.
With Audi dealers in the USA facing major shortages a plant in North America makes sense to help speed up delivery time and to help Audi meet it’s sales goals. 60% of orders are already sold leaving very few cars for the dealers lots. The potential for lower costs and easier accessibility is very tempting proposition. However, based on the comments and most peoples reactions buying an Audi not made in Germany is still a tough pill to swallow for most.
