Our friends at APR confirmed the suspicions of many today by posting up the dyno results from their stock 2010 S4. The common feeling on the street is that these cars have felt substantially more powerful than advertised by Audi. APRs Dynapack dynometer puts the new Audi S4 at a stunning 330.67 AWHP and 336.09 AWTQ (after SAE correction). These numbers are at the wheels, not crank (which is what is used to advertise). This is the average of 6 different pulls not just the peak numbers achieved.

Sneaky – post at-the-wheels power instead of SAE net (or were they posting kW?)! Assuming a standard 25% driveline loss for true AWD vehicles, this translates to 440 hp SAE net! However, this power makes a lot of sense considering:
1. The weight of the S4 (more than 1700 kg) and the consistent 5 sec 0-100 km/hr tests
2. The non-supercharged engine is rated at about 275 hp, and you should be able to get at least a 50% improvement for forced compression, especially at the 14 psi quoted for the blower.
3. The Germans are learning that the best course for a ‘premium’ brand is to under-promise and over-deliver.
