In 14 days we will be live from Sebring Florida for the start of the 2012 WEC.
Today, along with the announcement of the Audi R18 e-tron quattro. Audi showed off a revised R18 TDI with a new carbon-fiber composite gearbox housing – a premiere for endurance racing. Without the weight optimized R18 ultra Audi wouldn’t been capable of realizing the R18 e-tron quattro which is absolutely identical with the exception of the hybrid system.
At the World Championship opener at Sebring (USA) on March 17, Audi Sport Team Joest will rely on three of last years R18 TDIs.
- #1 R18 TDI Marcel Fässler/André Lotterer/Benoît Tréluyer
- #2 R18 TDI Dindo Capello/Tom Kristensen/Allan McNish
- #3 R18 TDI of Timo Bernhard/Romain Dumas/Loïc Duval

I’m not totally surprised about the E-tron. One of the guys at the Ontario CA tech center hinted strongly about it when we did a tour two yrs ago. I think it’s awesome.
Not a fan of Audi spending time and money on hybrid R&D.
Looks brilliant, thanks for sharing this.
