Audi held an end of the year/end of an era party on Friday where they revealed a scale model of the dearly departed 2017 R18.
Although the car was not ready for racing, this model gives us a pretty good idea of the aero changes Audi was planning for the upcoming World Endurance Championship season.
“Obviously it had not tested yet, but it was very far in development and very far in getting it built,” Stefan Dreyer, head of Audi’s LMP1 program, told Sportscar365, adding that it would have been the car to beat.
Hope remains to see this car, or something very like it, on racetracks next year, as Audi has stated that it would be happy to sell the car to a race team that can afford to run it.
