Since 2009, the Audi R8 LMS has been racing and winning in GT3 racing series around the globe. In that time, the car has seen some epic races and won the loyalty of drivers. Now, Audi Sport has sold 200 of the cars, so let’s take a look back at some of the R8 LMS’s finest moments on film.
“More and more drivers and teams now belong to the Audi Sport family,” said Stephan Winkelmann, head of Audi sport. “We are particularly pleased with this because the competitive landscape is tougher than ever before.”
The R8 LMS shares many of its parts with the road-going R8 V10, and although that may sound excellent for normal humans, what does it mean for racecar drivers? According to Chris Harris of Top Gear fame, the differences are still profound.
Harris isn’t the only journalist who got to drive the car. EVO’s Richard Meaden got to drive the Audi Sport supercar-come-racecar, too.
And no discussion of the R8 LMS would be complete without footage of its most spectacular victory, if not one of the most spectacular victories in recent racing history, at the FIA GT World Cup 2016 at Macau.
