Following up on yesterday’s news that the 2018 Audi S4 would outdrag the competition, the 0-60 time and pricing for the 2018 S5 Sportback have also been revealed. And again, the S5 outruns the competition off the line with a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds (BMW 440i Gran Coupe: 4.9 seconds) and a starting price of $54,400.
That acceleration comes thanks to the same 3.0-liter V6 engine that powers the S4. Making 354 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, power is routed to all four wheels via Audi’s eight-speed Tiptronic transmission.
While the eight-speed trans’ should be good for keeping you in the power band whatever your speed, its work won’t be especially difficult, because the new turbocharged six makes all of its torque from 1,370 to 4,500 rpm.
It’s not all power, though. The S5 Sportback comes chock-full of luxury, with standard 18” 5-double-spoke-star design wheels, a leather/Alcantara trimmed interior, diamond stitched seats, power sunroof, heated front seats, and more.
If you’re in the mood to drop some cash, though, you can also get 19” 5-spoke-cavo wheels, a full color heads up display, a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 3D sound, ventilated front seats, and more.
The S5 starts at $54,400 for the Premium Plus package, and goes up to $58,800 for Prestige trim, plus $975 destination fee.
Expect to see the S5 Sportback in showrooms this spring.
