Audi R8 LMS wins 12-hour race
24h Series: The Austrian Lechner Racing team won the third running of the 12 Hour Race of Hungary on its debut appearance with the Audi R8 LMS. The driver quartet of Philip König, Niki Mayr-Melnhof, Thomas Gruber and Walter Lechner junior built up a seven-lap advantage during the twelve hours around the Hungaroring.
Podium result at European finale
FIA GT3: One of the Audi teams secured a podium result at the FIA GT3 European Championship season finale at Zolder (Belgium). The two Belgians Enzo Ide and Greg Franchi steered their Belgian Audi Club R8 LMS to third place in the second race. Team Rosberg in particular were plagued by bad luck during the sixth and final GT3 race of the 2010 season: While holding second position in race one a problem with the servo steering forced Stéphane Lemeret and Kenneth Heyer to retire.
Kumpen/Franchi in second place
Beclar: Anthony Kumpen and Greg Franchi took second place in the fifth race of the Belcar series. The Belgium duo representing the W-Racing team started from third position in their Audi R8 LMS and were narrowly beaten by almost a minute at the finish by the victorious Porsche. The team’s second R8 LMS with François Verbist and Bert Longin at the wheel started the race from a promising fourth position but unfortunately retired.
Two top-ten finishes for Mark Eddy
GT3 Australia: The Australian Mark Eddy recorded a brace of top-ten finishes during the fifth Australian GT Championship weekend. The 50-year old campaigner impressed in the first of two races at Bathurst in his Audi R8 LMS by staging a courageous comeback drive from 16th position on the grid to take the checkered flag in ninth position. In the second race he crossed the finish line in eighth place.
