QuattroWorld is here live at Road Atlanta for the 14th annual running of Petit Le Mans! The weather is glorious and there has been very little drama so far. Audi and Peugeot have been trading punches and currently Audi is on top of the leaderboard in practice. Allan McNish put in 1:09.768 in the #1 Audi R18, followed by Sarrazin in the #8 Peugeot 908 who is just 2/1000ths behind the Audi. Romain Dumas has the #2 R18 third in the standings running 1:09.784. Anthony Davidson is in 4th place in the #7 Puegeot 908.
Words by Elaine Bak – This Friday, September 30, APR Motorsport will be adding a new chapter to their race portfolio by making their debut appearance in the Pirelli World Challenge series in the Cadillac Road Atlanta Grand Prix.
Hopes are high for the APR Motorsport team after driver Ian Baas set the fastest lap time of 1:31.345 (100.104 mph) in the APR Motorsport No. 56 Audi B8 S4 during the morning practice session. The anticipation of racing at APR’s home track filled with Audi race fans and enthusiasts coming out to support Team Joest is only fueling this momentum further.
The Cadillac Road Atlanta Grand Prix will be a completely new experience for the drivers and the team. It is an adrenaline-pumping race of fifty minutes and it does not involve the pit stops and driver changes that the APR Motorsport team is accustomed to doing. Furthermore, during the Cadillac Road Atlanta Grand Prix, three separate classes – GTS, GT, and Touring Car – will be on the track at the same time. in A1. Closed
The A1 has been a huge success for Audi in Europe and rumors have been swirling about a hotter S1 and even hotter RS1 version that could be released soon. The good news is that this appears to be closer than we thought, as fully undisguised versions of both cars were captured in a parking garage that we can only guess is near quattro GmbH headquarters in Neckarsulm Germany. The S1 shown here does not have quattro drivetrain, however the RS1 does have quattro. This makes us wonder if that will be the difference between the two versions? Or will quattro simply be an option on all models of the A1 lineup. Forum members at Audi4ever.at were the crafty photographers to snap these pictures. We have only posted a few of the pictures so make sure to jump over to see their S1 and RS1 photo posts! Also thanks to Audiblog.nl for the tip!
We are very excited to introduce QuattroWorld’s new long term test car, a beautiful Orca Black Q7 TDI Prestige with the new S line plus package. When I thought the perfect long term car, I went through the list of current Audis and weighed the pros and cons of each one. My goal was to get a car that I could really go exploring with, one that could fit my family of 4 comfortably on our many road trips and adventures. The newest iteration of the Q7 really has advanced to the point where it is practically a brand new car. Updated styling, highly advanced technology and looks that turn heads everywhere we go prove to me that we made the right choice when picking the Q7 TDI.
The technical improvements to the 2012 model year Q7 include some pretty awesome features that up until now, we have only seen in the new A6, A7 and A8. These features include the MMI plus featuring Google connectivity and live data, the Audi Connect package that includes a mobile wifi hotspot (powered by T-Mobile HSPA+ network), Adaptive cruise control and more. My favorite part of the car to show off however is the amazing B&O sound system that simply blows away one’s expectations of what a car based audio system is capable of. My music collection has literally never sounded better! Continue reading ‘Project Q7 TDI Introduction’
Audi was the very first company in the world to start using hashtags in their commercials last year in the Superbowl. Since then, many other companies have jumped on the bandwagon. One of the goals was for Audi to start encouraging interaction with their user base via Twitter and Facebook. One such user came up with the hashtag #wantanR8 in a tweet and Audi responded… By giving her the keys to a V10 Audi R8 for a day! Now that is how you define social media interaction with fans! Audi is crushing the competition in this area.
Audi will be giving more lucky people the chance to win an R8 for a day. I suggest you sign up for an account at Twitter if you don’t have one, and make sure to 1) Follow us @quattroworld then 2) send out a clever tweet and be sure to include the #wantanR8 hashtag (as well as @Audi) in your tweet. And for extra bonus points, please include @quattroworld and we will retweet it for you! Also, make sure you follow @jmdc88 as she is the smart one that came up with this brilliant idea!
Ps. Stay tuned for more #wantanR8 excitement later this week

Audi aims for tenth “Petit Le Mans” victory at Road Atlanta
First overseas run of the diesel race sports car
Dindo Capello and Romain Dumas reinforce the Audi squad
QuattroWorld will be arriving Wednesday in Atlanta to bring you all of the action live from Petit Le Mans!
In June Audi celebrated its tenth victory with the R18 TDI diesel race sports car and ultra-lightweight technology in a dramatic race at the famous Le Mans 24 Hours. Likewise, on October 1st, Audi Sport Team Joest is aiming for the brand’s tenth triumph at the U.S. counterpart, the “Petit Le Mans” at Road Atlanta in the state of Georgia.
Nine times Audi has won the event which alongside the Daytona 24 Hours and the Sebring 12 Hours is the most important endurance race in North America. From 2000 to 2005 the Audi R8 was unbeatable at the race that is run over 1000 miles or for a maximum of ten hours. In 2006, 2007 and 2008 the Audi R10 TDI triumphed three times in a row. After unfortunate defeats in the past two years with the R15 TDI, Audi is set on returning to victory lane with the new R18 TDI at Road Atlanta.
Last week was a phenomenal experience for me to visit Frankfurt Motor Show for my very first time. The booth that Audi created was nothing short of extraordinary and is the single most impressive marketing display I have ever seen or heard of. We put up a gallery last week showing off the booth but somehow pictures just didn’t do this booth justice. Well Audi has answered the call, and posted a phenomenal video that does a wonderful job of showcasing just how amazing this facility is!
Earlier this week, QuattroWorld was the very first website to publish images of the next generation Audi RS4 Avant lapping at the ring. Now we bring you something even better, high definition video with excellent audio! So turn up your speakers and listen to this beautiful beast tearing up the Nurburgring!
Mattias Ekström dominates in the rain at Oschersleben
Martin Tomczyk in second place after sensational recovery
Nine-point advantage in the overall standings
Ingolstadt/Oschersleben, September 18, 2011 – Audi, Audi, Audi – only 14 days after the one-two-three triumph in the rain battle at Brands Hatch the brand with the four rings again took the whole podium at a DTM race in similarly difficult conditions. At Oschersleben, Mattias Ekström (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline) triumphed in front of leader of the standings Martin Tomczyk (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) and rookie Edoardo Mortara (Audi Sport Team Rosberg).
For Audi this marked the 60th victory in total in the most popular international touring car series, the sixth in the current season and an important step toward another DTM title. With a sensational recovery Martin Tomczyk managed to advance to second place after having started from position 14, extending his overall lead by nine points before the last two races. Consequently, the Bavarian driver living in Switzerland will already have the first match ball and chance of securing an early title win for Audi at Valencia (Spain) on October 2.
