Audi Sport Team WRT triumphant at the 24 Hours Spa
Victorious against GT cars from twelve other manufacturers
DTM stars Ekström and Scheider in winning car
The Audi R8 LMS won the most important endurance race for GT cars ahead of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Audi Sport Team WRT overcame the strongest competition during the 63rd running of the 24 hours of Spa (Belgium). The two DTM stars Mattias Ekström (Sweden) and Timo Scheider (Germany) and the Belgian endurance specialist Greg Franchi shared driving duties in the victorious mid-engine sportscar.
Experts agreed before the race started that the endurance classic, held since 1924, had never fielded so many potential winners as this year. A total of 62 cars representing 13 different manufacturers joined the grid, including no less than 57 cars of the worldwide booming GT3 category.
The opening stages of the endurance classic in particular fulfilled expectations. Spectators lining the 7.004 kilometer track and in front of television screens enjoyed tough battles for position, countless overtaking maneuvers, retirements and small and big dramas which are typical for a 24-hour race. The Audi R8 LMS was the fastest car in the field from the very beginning. After just a few hours it was clear that the V10 powered R8 sports cars where the favorites for the victory.
New company cars for the record champions at Audi Forum Ingolstadt
Bayern stars sign autographs for Audi employees on the Piazza
Audi Q7 most popular model among the Munich player
Just a few days before the start of the 2011/2012 season and less than 24 hours after the Audi Cup 2011 final, the players, coach and management of FC Bayern Munich collected their new company cars from Audi. Almost 3,000 fans and Audi employees celebrated Philipp Lahm and company on the Piazza in Ingolstadt. The German record champion stars busily signed autographs and familiarized themselves with their new company cars.
Most popular model among the Bayern stars this season is the Audi Q7 – as many as ten players chose the premium SUV. Striker Mario Gomez for example selected the powerful 500 hp (368 kW) Q7 V12 TDI with Daytona Grey pearl effect paintwork. With immediate effect captain Philipp Lahm drives an A6 3.0 TFSI, his team mate Thomas Müller an RS 5 Coupé 4.2 FSI. Coach Jupp Heynckes in contrast favors, like his forward Gomez, a Q7.
The partnership between Audi and FC Bayern Munich exists now for nine years, the annual vehicle handover is a highlight in the players’ calendar. Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board Sales and Marketing of AUDI AG, and Thomas Sigi, Member of the Board of Management for Human Resources at AUDI AG, handed over the keys for the new cars. “We are looking forward to next season with FC Bayern Munich,” said Schwarzenbauer. “With the Audi Cup over the last two days we’ve enjoyed a perfect conclusion to pre-season preparations, now we hand over the new car keys and wish all the players, coaches and management a safe journey and quite obviously lots of goals,” continued Schwarzenbauer.
Stasis Engineering has done it again. They have taken an amazing Audi and made it that much better. We don’t have a ton of technical details yet, but we have received these high res photo directly from the staff at Stasis. The pictures show us that the A7, although a luxury vehicle, looks pretty darn good wearing some track shoes and a bit more muscle. Having driven several Stasis tuned vehicles, we can only expect that their rendition of the A7 to be on par with their other offerings. I think we can expect power upgrades to the 3.0 TFSI engine to be on par with their upgrades for the S4′s 3.0 TFSI. Be sure to check out the high res gallery at the end of this article!
UPDATE: We now have completed information from Stasis Regarding the details of their upgrades!
Stasis has confirmed with us that they will have both Touring and Challenge Editions of the A7.
Touring Edition upgrades include tires, cast wheels, upgraded brakes, suspension, exhaust, and optional engine tuning software.
Challenge package additional upgrades include Alcon brakes, upgraded suspension, forged wheels, and upgraded tires.
Pricing is not yet available but will likely be in line with their pricing packages for other vehicles.
First Audi TT RS sold in U.S. marks return of heralded high-performance RS line
Editor's Note: We are very excited that one of our own members was the very first person in the United States to receive delivery of their TT RS. Read the press release from Audi below and see Don's post in our TT forum here: http://forums.quattroworld.com/tt2/msgs/11655.phtml Pictures coming soon!
The return of the heralded Audi RS line to the American performance car scene officially launched when Forth Worth Audi in Texas delivered the first 2012 Audi TT RS in the U.S. to veteran race car driver Don Istook.
Last year, Istook was one of more than 11,500 fans to sign the Audi TT RS Facebook petition drive, which helped convince Audi to introduce the 360-hp coupe in the U.S. But Istook’s connection to Audi and to the TT performance car line runs far deeper. The Fort Worth native was one of the first drivers to race an Audi Quattro in the U.S. in 1985 and he drove Audi S4 models in the Motorola Cup, which became the Grand-Am Cup. More recently he has raced Audi TT quattro coupes. Continue reading 'First Audi TT RS delivered to veteran Audi racer and QuattroWorld member, Don Istook'
Audi Sport Teams Phoenix and WRT field four factory cars
Customer team United Autosports with former Formula 1 stars
Premiere in the Belgian Ardennes: the GT3 class is the top tier for the first time at the 63rd running of the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps. Audi uses the opportunity to send four factory backed R8 LMS into the battle for overall victory on July 30/31. On top of this come three customer cars with high-caliber driver line-ups.
The Belgian endurance classic was staged for the first time in 1924 and, as a result, is almost as old as the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans and is currently the world’s only 24-hour race in which GT cars compete exclusively. This includes the Audi R8 LMS which has recorded almost 100 victories since its debut in 2009 and is one of the most successful GT3 sports cars and thus automatically numbers among the candidates for overall victory.

Model change in the DTM: From 2012 on, Audi will bank on the A5 in the most popular international touring car racing series. The coupe, which is internally named “R17,” will replace the four-door A4 DTM with which Audi has won the prestigious DTM title four times since 2004.
The technically and visually upgraded A5 that is will be arriving at dealerships shortly provides the basis for the new DTM car. “In 2012 new Technical Regulations will come into effect in the DTM,” says Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. “We’ve got exactly the right model for that in the A5. We’re convinced that we’ll be able to continue Audi’s success story with it in the DTM.” Continue reading ‘DTM 2012: Audi banks on A5′
Audi is refreshing the A5 model series. Advanced technologies are being added to the Sportback, Coupé, Cabriolet and S5 models in the areas of the engine, quattro drive and infotainment for even more efficiency, sportiness and intelligence. The updated design visually underscores the technical expertise involved in these versions.
The A5 models are now more distinctive than ever. The rear lights and the headlights have been redesigned and are optionally available in xenon plus technology with homogenous LED daytime running lights. New colors and materials accentuate the interior, and many details of the operating concept have been fine-tuned.
Each of the four TDI diesel and three TFSI gasoline units in the new engine lineup include forced induction and direct fuel injection. The new 1.8 TFSI features a number of groundbreaking innovations. Fuel consumption has been reduced by 11 percent on average. The start-stop system and the recuperation system come standard with all engine-transmission configurations.
Each engine is matched with the ideal drivetrain – six-speed manual, multitronic, seven-speed S tronic, front-wheel drive or quattro drive. When combined with S tronic, the quattro drivetrain uses the crown-gear center differential and torque vectoring; the sport differential is the perfect complement. The chassis has been more finely tuned, with the optional Audi drive select system and dynamic steering making the A5 even more fun to drive. The electromechanical power steering is new to the A5 family.
The new A5 is a highly intelligent car. Its driver assistance systems have undergone intensive further development. The range of infotainment options now includes the Bluetooth online car phone, which delivers a number of special services and connects the A5 to the Internet.
