It is one thing to see spy shots or videos leaked onto the internet that vaguely show off a new car, it is another thing altogether to see the actual corporate press photos. The all new 2011 Audi A6 has finally been unveiled with these leaked press photos from AutoBlog.nl. We expect the official high-res photos to be released soon from Audi AG and will post an update with those once we receive them. Also you should expect this car to hit the USA later in 2011. Also anticipated is a formal unveiling of the car at the Geneva Auto Show. As expected, the styling cues are very similar to the new Audi A7. Visit the link below for more pictures!
Timo Scheider makes strong showing in DTM’s world finale
Martin Tomczyk clinches fourth place
Miguel Molina is best DTM rookie of the year 2010
Audi impressed the fans at the DTM’s world finale in Shanghai (China) with a strong showing. For many of the 19,000 spectators (throughout the weekend) and 1,400 Audi guests Timo Scheider was the man of the race.
Just one day after his serious accident in qualifying, the two-time DTM Champion, assisted by a perfect strategy of Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, pushed forward from position four on the grid to third place. An early end of the race deprived the German who lives in Austria of an even better result.
“My A4 was perfect today. If I had started from the front row I could have fought for victory,” said Scheider. “I’ve got to thank the guys who prepared the car again overnight.” The mechanics worked until 2 a.m. and continued at 7 a.m. to give their driver an optimal car again – which they clearly managed to do. On the occasion of the DTM race in Shanghai, Audi presented the concept of a GT4 car based on the Audi TT. The TT, developed by the Technical Development and the Production divisions plus quattro GmbH, is intended to extend Audi’s new modular customer sport program from 2012 forward. Timo Scheider is quickest Audi driver despite an accident in qualifying
Markus Winkelhock shines with grid position five
A lot of work for the Audi teams
In the qualifying sessions for the DTM’s world finale in Shanghai (China) that was marked by numerous incidents Timo Scheider in fourth place was the quickest Audi driver as well as the victim of a spectacular accident.
Just before the end of the third qualifying section (Q3) the two-time DTM Champion, while running at a speed of about 220 km/h on a lane marking lost control of his Audi A4 DTM, which careered out of control and crashed into the concrete wall backward. Also thanks to the high passive safety of the Audi A4 DTM, Scheider sustained no injuries. The mechanics of Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline will try and repair the car before the race on Sunday (live broadcast starting at 8:05 a.m., CET, on “Das Erste”). Autonomous Audi TTS Pikes Peak Drove Fast Speeds on Curves as it Ascended Entire Mountain Course Without a Human in the Car
by Melissa J Knight
In September, the Autonomous Audi TTS achieved the initial goal of completing the 12.42-mile course of the world-famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race in Colorado. This is venue for one of the world’s most thrilling rally races each June, one that Audi won in record-breaking time in 1985 with Michèle Mouton behind the wheel. It’s here that Audi quattro technology became legendary.
The research car, a collaboration between Audi, Stanford University, the Volkswagen Group Electronics Research Lab in Palo Alto, California, and Oracle, drove the challenging route up to the 14,110-foot summit without a driver.
This stock TTS generates 265 hp and completed the mountain course in 27 minute. No human rally driver has completed the course in fewer than 10 minutes, despite driving cars that produced more than 900 hp. Pikes Peak Race officials told researchers they would expect an expert race driver on the course to finish in around 17 minutes in a car similar to the TTS.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of quattro, the Autonomous TTS Pike Peak was shown at the LA Auto Show on press days. I spoke with its guardian and Senior Systems Engineer on this project, Ganymed Stanek. Complete interview after the jump.
Five-cylinder turbo delivering 250 kW (340 hp) and 450 Nm (331.90 lb ft) of torque
Zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.6 seconds, superior pulling power
Seven-speed S tronic, quattro drive and 19-inch wheels
Blazing performance, compact size. Audi has added a new model to its dynamic RS series: the RS 3 Sportback. In the great tradition of the brand, its engine boasts five cylinders and turbocharging technology. From a displacement of 2.5 liters come 250 kW (340 hp) of power and 450 Nm (331.90 lb-ft) of torque, with an average fuel consumption of just 9.1 liters of fuel per 100 km (25.85 US mpg).
Power is transmitted to the road via a seven-speed S tronic and quattro permanent all-wheel drive. 19-inch wheels and fenders made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) underscore the Audi RS 3 Sportback’s position of distinction.
We just spent two great days at the LA Auto Show with Audi. It was such a fun experience. Audi had an impressive display and showed why they are well on the way to becoming the world’s leading luxury brand. One of my highlights of the show had to be the time spent with Stefan Sielaff, the man behind many of the Audi’s we have grown to love such as the Audi A7, the Audi R8 GT, the Audi quattro Concept and of course the Le Mans winning Audi R15 TDI!
A video of this interview was captured by Audi’s media team. I was very fortunate to be a part of this interview and as an Audi fan there it was a great honor and privilege.
And here is a gallery of photos from the interview.

In case you are getting bored with the 525 horsepower that came stock on your 5.2L FSI V10 powered R8, you can stop losing sleep at night. Our friends at APR apparently said “Why not!” when the question came up as to whether or not they should develop a chip for the 5.2L V10 FSI powerplant. And if someone were to ask “Why?” I’m sure they would answer “Because we can!”
Leave it to APR to take an amazing car like the R8 5.2 FSI V10 and push it into the “ridiculous” category. I have driven the Audi R8 Spyder with the 5.2L FSI V10 and I can tell you that the stock 525hp is astonishing. In fact, I have an article hitting the wire soon recapping my experiences behind the wheel. If you haven’t experienced one in person, you need to add it to your bucket list.
And at a price tag of only $1,500 I will expect any R8 V10 owners to also say “Why not?” After all, isn’t that just pocket change to most R8 5.2L FSI V10 owners?
