Project partners Audi, E.ON, the Munich municipal utility company Stadtwerke München (SWM) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) today sounded the starting gun for a fleet trial with electric cars in the Munich model region. By the middle of next year, 20 Audi A1 e-tron models will successively take to the region's roads and around 200 new charging stations will be installed. The "eflott" project is part of the "Model Region Electromobility Munich" sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Transport. It will address a number of issues from the data transfer between the driver, vehicle and electric filling station to the power grid. It will also include a test of smartphones as the central interface for the driver.

2011 A8D4: quattro meets Opulence
Photos and text by Melissa J Knight
It’s worth the wait. For anyone who thinks that Audi’s December 2009 World Premiere of the A8 D4 is old news and that the model will be anti-climactic when it finally reaches showrooms next week, think again. This four-star sedan will give heightened states of pleasure — beyond what Audi originally described. As is often the case, they under-promise and over-deliver.
The 2011 A8 D4 is first class. It is also first in class (the luxury sedan segment rivaling the 7 series, S class and LS) with more than a few technology and design features. The Über-cruiser, as it is becoming known, also has several firsts for the four rings.
With a projected profile of buyers with a median income of over $400,000, high power executives, chauffeurs who drive them, and enthusiasts with kids, will all be impressed by the performance, safety, lush features, and posh design details of the new A8. Whereas the A8 D3 felt very masculine to this writer, Audi developed the x chromos for its latest incarnation. Feeling at liberty to speak on behalf of all women, the D4 holds great appeal.

- Third place for the reigning DTM Champion at Brands Hatch
- Race ends early for Mattias Ekström
- Miguel Molina achieves new track record
Ingolstadt/Brands Hatch, September 5, 2010 – At the DTM race at Brands Hatch (Great Britain) Timo Scheider was again the best Audi driver. The reigning DTM Champion repeated his third-place finish from Zandvoort and advanced to fourth place in the standings.
For 60 laps Timo Scheider followed the leader of the standings, Bruno Spengler, like a shadow. But the Audi driver had no opportunity to overtake the Canadian. After the second pit stop Scheider lost a bit of ground and in the final phase concentrated on securing his third place.
“In the beginning Bruno (Spengler) wasn’t that quick, so Paul (Di Resta) was able to move away at the front,” said the two-time DTM Champion after the race. “But on used tires Bruno was very fast in the end. It’s nice to see my performance curve continue to point upward – although, obviously, we’re here to win races.”

- Inaugural event of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC)
- Two Audi R15 TDI cars to contest the 1000-km race at Silverstone
- Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish to spearhead the squad
Ingolstadt, September 3, 2010 – The 1000-kilometer race at Silverstone (Great Britain) on September 12 marks the beginning of a new era for Audi and the sports car scene: for the first time since 1992, there will be a worldwide racing series for Le Mans prototypes again. Audi Sport Team Joest will contest the series with two R15 TDI cars.
Silverstone, Road Atlanta, Zhuhai – three races in three different continents at the end of the 2010 sports car season will give sports car fans a foretaste of the year 2011. Next year, a total of seven endurance races are planned for the so called "Intercontinental Le Mans Cup” (ILMC).
47 vehicles have been entered in the ILMC inaugural race at Silverstone, as many as twelve of them in the top class, LMP1, whose "king” has traditionally been the Le Mans winner. This year it was the Audi R15 TDI which is powered by a V10 TDI engine delivering about 440 kW and – as is typical for Audi – features numerous innovative technical details.

in Audi RS5.

No doubt that there will be RS5 drivers who are willing to give their new toy away for an hour. The reward for this short abstinence: a top speed of 303 km/h. This is available with help of the MTM V-Cantronic: a small additional control device, which can be built in by MTM partners or directly at MTM in Wettstetten/Ingolstadt, without any complex reconstruction. The V-Cantronic removes the factory speed limiter of 250 or 280 km/h to 303 km/h. The owners who wait four more hours will be rewarded by a double flood stainless steel exhaust system and the most famous side will be designed definitely sportier and more individual: the rear of the 450 HP sportscar, that Audi started to deliver the last days.
- Top speed of 303 km/h, thanks to MTM V-Cantronic
- MTM exhaust system and MTM rims in the Bimoto Design are available
The Audi refiner MTM from Wettstetten offers the first components, which make the RS5 even sportier and even if the power enhancement for the 450 HP engine keeps us waiting, the top speed of 303 km/h is a foretaste of the future MTM RS5. The costs: 1.499 Euros. The stainless steel exhaust system proposed by MTM is with throttle valves and offers not only a good looking rear view with black end pipes (ceramic coating with MTM writing), but also a new sound. The costs: starting at 2.998 Euros.
An individually adjustable spring-kit is in development.
Typically MTM: the nine –spokes Bimoto rims, which are available in 19”, 20” and 21” for the RS5. The 20” Bimoto forged is a special quality . On top of that, MTM advises a MTM spacers-kit, which widens about 20mm. Price for the MTM rims set and tyres start from 2.249 Euros (19”).

- Q5 crossover sales increased 78.8% from August 2009 sales to set an all-time record
HERNDON, Va., Sep 1, 2010 – Audi today maintained its 2010 momentum with record August U.S. sales, which surpassed the prior August record set in 2003 by more than 900 vehicles. August 2010 sales of Audi cars and SUVs climbed 14% compared to August 2009, and marked the best monthly sales performance since May of this year.
The August results keep the German luxury automaker on track to set a vehicle sales record in the U.S. by year-end. The existing annual sales record for Audi in the U.S. is 93,506 vehicles sold in 2007.
Overall, Audi sold 9,182 luxury cars and SUVs in August 2010, topping the previous August record of 8,057 vehicles sold in August 2009. Additionally, the automaker posted steady quarter-to-quarter sales increases of more than 5% and nearly 15% over June 2010 and July 2010, respectively.
The August 2010 results were buoyed by the continued extraordinary consumer response by year-over-year sales increases for the Audi Q5 crossover and Audi Q7. For the month, Audi sold 2,675 Q5 vehicles, a 78.8% increase over the 1,496 vehicles sold in August 2009. The Q5 line also enjoyed more than a 25% August 2010 sales jump over July 2010.
