Spyshots reveal new Audi A7 in the wild

a7spyshot2

The Audi A7 has been caught without the normal disguises. Although this car has some test mule wheels, add on a set of nice 19″ factory wheels and this will likely be what we see hit the showrooms. The A7 is going to be available in multiple trim and engine levels. Starting with the base 204 hp, 2.8 liter V6 and of course the 300+hp 3.0 Supercharged motor that is a variant of what we see in the new S4. Also rumored will be an S7 version with the 4.0 liter engine currently in the S5 rated near 397hp. Then if we are REALLY lucky we may even see a RS7 variant with the 600hp twin turbo V10 that powers the mack daddy of them all, the V10 R8. I’m sure we’ll find out more information soon but for now let’s just drool over these spy pics some more!

sema2009-1481
I thought that it would be fun to start a new tradition for SEMA. After each show I will post up some awards highlighting the event. Although this year was slower then other recent years, there were still some amazing vehicles there!

More dyno results confirm that the 2010 S4 has some serious power

b8_s4_baseline

Addict Motorsort Design (AMD) out of Woodinville, Washington has posted up the results of the dyno of their new 2010 S4 shop car. Their car is completely stock and they have just finished the required break in period. AMD boasts one of the few AWD dynos in the Northwest. Their tool of choice is a Mustang AWD-500 which provides very accurate wheel horse power(whp) and wheel torque numbers(wtq). Their results show and impressive 284whp and 279wtq. Based on the generally accepted approximate 25% drive train loss that puts this car at an astounding 378.6hp which is notably more than the 333hp that Audi has stated. That is assuming of course that the drivetrain loss in the current generation is similar to that of older models which could be a false assumption.

AMD also did us all a favor and posted up exact results from their measurements of the cars stock weight distribution. The total weight came in at 3917lbs with 3/4 tank of gas. Front to rear weight distribution came it at roughly 55% front versus 45% rear weight distribution.

Time will only tell how much potential these cars have. I am certain that once we give our tuners some more time with these cars we will start seeing some great results! One this is for sure, this car has some SERIOUS power in stock form and I’d argue that it feels closer to 400hp (especially when you consider the curb weight!).

SEMA Show 2009 Event Coverage

sema2009-111

SEMA is the melting pot of the automotive aftermarket industry. It is the largest show of it’s kind in the world, and brings in hundreds of thousands of people together to obsess over cars. It is quite interesting how diverse the cars and the crowd are. The recipe for this year’s show is once again unique. Add in some monster truck & Jeeps, sprinkle in some murder out Bentleys and carbon fiber clad Ferraris, mix in some 15 series 24″ tires and garnish with excessive bling. And of course don’t forget about a million GTRs and Camaros which are the main ingredient of SEMA 2009. The one ingredient that is unfortunately light in this year’s recipe is representation of the Audi marque! Literally only a handful of Audis are at this years show (5 so far that I have found). I was hoping to see a few 2010 S4s or maybe even a V10 R8 or two but unfortunately Audis are one of the least represented brands at the show.
