Audi TDI clean diesel paves road to energy independence

HERNDON, Va., Jun 19, 2009 -  Audi today launched an aggressive public awareness campaign in the U.S. to highlight the ways in which TDI clean diesel can help America achieve energy independence. Ranging from television ads to a social media-driven charitable donation, the campaign will kick off a summer-long push to change public perception of the once-maligned diesel engine.

"Energy independence and fuel efficiency are at the forefront of public debate, and with the launch of the Q7 TDI clean diesel, Audi is introducing a viable solution into that national discussion," said Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America. "Several solutions for reducing America’s dependence on foreign oil have been introduced, but few are as convenient, accessible, and fun as simply switching from regular gasoline to clean diesel."

Le Mans Update: Just over 5 hours left and Audi R15 still holding onto 3rd place

Just past the 3/4 point of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Team Joest Audi R15 #1 car is holding onto 3rd place. The #8 and #9 Peugeot 908s are running neck and next about 2 laps ahead of Allan McNish behind the wheel of the #1 R15. Tom Christensen just finished a long stint behind the wheel and complained about heatsoak in the intercoolers causing the R15 to lose some notable top end speed. If the Peugeot’s run into any issue or problems the Audi will be ready to take advantage. McNish is running fast and seems to be on a mission to make up some time. Lap times seem to be dropping as the track temps heat up as the sun is out warming things up. Stay tuned for more updates and info. Photo courtesy of TertreRougeTimes.com

24 Hours of Le Mans – Six hours completed, Evening sets in

Le Mans, France - With just a little over six hours of the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans completed, we have entered the quarter mark. The last hour has seen a lot of action. The No. 3 Audi R15 TDI was running slowly, and returned to the pits, where it was taken into the garage. Currently the front and rear is off of the car, and the crew is busily working on it.
